CEBU, Philippines – Close to 2,000 runners are expected to participate in Run for Gift of Life that is scheduled on May 7 at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu grounds. Spearheaded by Rotary Club of Cebu with co-presenter CintrineLand Corporation, the running event serves as a fund raising project for its ‘Gift of Life Program’ where the organization help in funding the operation of children with congenital heart defects from indigent families. “The Gift of Life Program is our vehicle to help indigent kids with congenital heart defect and over the past 10 years we have operated about 40 children already,” said Rotary Club of Cebu’s outgoing President Bernard Von Sia during a press conference yesterday at the Casino Español.

The race will feature 3-kilometer, 8K and 16K categories.  Medals and trophies awaits the top placers in each category, while all the finishers will receive a specially-designed finisher’s medal. Registration fee is pegged at P300 for 3K, P450 for 8K and P650 for 16K inclusive of singlet, race bib and post-race refreshments. Registration sites are at the Digital Walker, SM City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu, Cyclelogic,  Parkmall, Bikecology,  Banilad Town Center, Señor Kimchi, YKK Bicycles and Kai Stickers.

After the running event, Rotary Club of Cebu will also organize a triathlon event dubbed as Rotary Corporate Triathlon on June 11 in Barangay Punta Engano in Lapu-Lapu City. (FREEMAN)
